Avoid the sun 2-4 weeks before and after treatment until allowed. Epidermal melanocytes compete with melanin in the hair. Rejuvenate Lake Wylie may ask for ceasing any topical medications or skin care products 3-5 days prior to treatment.
AVOID bleaching, plucking or waxing hair for 4-6 weeks prior to treatment. The melanin-containing hair must be present in the follicle as it is the “target” for the laser light.
If guest has a history of perioral or genital herpes simplex virus, Rejuvenate Lake Wylie may recommend prophylactic antiviral therapy. Guest should follow the directions for their particular antiviral medication.
RECENTLY TANNED SKIN CANNOT BE TREATED! If treated within 2 weeks of active (natural or booth) tanning, guest may develop hypopigmentation (white spots) after treatment and this may not clear for 2-3 months or more.
The use of self- tanning skin products MUST be discontinued one week before treatment.

The skin is cleaned and shaved prior to treatment. The use of a topical anesthetic is optional.
When treating the upper lip, the teeth may be protected with moist white gauze. The gauze also serves to support the lip during treatment, allowing a surface to push against.
The Burian PRO(cooling device), will be used with the laser to cool the skin during treatment.
Safety considerations are important during the laser treatment. Protective eyewear will be worn by the guest and all personnel in the treatment room during the treatment to reduce the chance of damage to the eye. In addition, Rejuvenate at Lake Wylie will take all necessary precautions to ensure guest safety.

Immediately after treatment, there should be erythema (redness) and edema (swelling) of each hair follicle in the treatment site, which may last up to 2 hours, or longer. The erythema may last up to 2-3 days. The treated area may feel like sunburn for a few hours after treatment.
A topical soothing skin care product such as aloe vera gel may be applied following treatment if desired.
Makeup may be used immediately after the treatment as long as the skin is not irritated.
Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation (darker pigmentation).
Use a sunblock (SPF 30+) at all times throughout the course of treatment.
Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin. Do not use any other hair removal treatment products (waxing, electrolysis or tweezing) that will disturb the hair follicle in the treatment area after the laser treatment is performed. Shaving may be implemented.
Between 5-14 days after the treatment, shedding of the treated hair may occur and this appears as new hair growth. This is NOT new hair growth. Guests can clean and remove the hair by washing or wiping the area with a wet cloth or Loofah sponge. After the axillae (underarms) are treated, guests may wish to use a powder instead of a deodorant for 24 hours after the treatment to reduce skin irritation.
There are no restrictions on bathing except to treat the skin gently, as in the case of a sunburn, for the first 24 hours.
Return to the office or call for a session in 6 to 8 weeks. Hair regrowth occurs at different rates on different areas of the body. New hair growth will not occur for AT LEAST three weeks after treatment.

Please disclose all medical conditions and medications to Rejuvenate at Lake Wylie. Certain conditions may negatively impact the laser procedure such as pregnancy, history of cold sores, diabetes, history of skin keloids, circulatory problems, and certain medications (i.e., Accutane, anticoagulants).
Two weeks prior to laser treatment do not use self-tanning lotions and/or tanning booths or sunbathe. (Any guest arriving with a tan or sunburn may be rescheduled for the safety of the skin.)
If having laser vein removal treatment of the legs, please shave the area prior to appointment.

Please be advised that guests may expect a certain degree of discomfort, redness and/or irritation during and after the laser treatment.
Taking ibuprofen or acetaminophen prior to and after the treatment should decrease discomfort.
If any discomfort and/or irritation persists please notify Rejuvenate at Lake Wylie.
It also helps to elevate legs (when are able to) for the first 48 hours after treatment.

After treatment it is not uncommon for the treated veins to reappear for 3 to 4 weeks before dissipating.
In some cases, the treated skin may blister. Do not scratch or open the blister – this could cause permanent scarring or infection.
Keep the areas clean and apply antibiotic ointment such as Neosporin. (Treated correctly, the blister will heal without scarring.) A red scab may form under the skin. It may appear for a few weeks and will commonly be reabsorbed by the body. This is supposed to happen and is a sign of a successful treatment.
Guests can expect treated areas to remain somewhat red and swollen for the first 24 to 48 hours. In some cases, this may last up to 1 week.
Brown spots or hemosiderin staining is caused by a release of iron from the reabsorption of veins and can remain for up to 6 months. This usually occurs with larger veins.
For best results, do not engage in vigorous aerobic activity such as running, hiking or aerobic exercise for approximately 24-72 hours post treatment.
The use of support or compression stockings is recommended for two weeks following the treatment.
It is advised to remain out of the sun for one week. It is recommended that guests use medical grade sunblock for sun exposures.
The skin of the treated areas may tend to itch. This is a sign of healing.
Keep areas hydrated with moisturizer.
Bruising is another common side effect to laser treatment. Bruising is temporary and will dissipate within a matter of days or weeks depending on guest's individual healing process.

Multiple treatments may be required because hair growth occurs in cycles, and AlloraPro Laser Hair Removal is most effective when targeting hair in the active growth phase, known as the anagen phase.
During the anagen phase, the hair follicle contains an abundance of melanin, the pigment responsible for hair color. AlloraPro works by targeting and heating the melanin in the hair follicle, damaging it and inhibiting future hair growth. However, not all hair follicles are in the anagen phase at the same time.

We recommend arriving at the appointment with cool, clean skin, so it's best to avoid intense workouts immediately before the session. Following treatment, strictly avoid the gym, heavy sweating, and strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours. Because the laser safely leaves residual thermal energy in the hair follicles, adding heat and sweat too quickly can trap bacteria and cause severe friction irritation or follicular bumps, especially in sensitive regions like a Brazilian treatment.

To ensure flawless results and protect the skin barrier, avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, hot tubs, saunas, and harsh chemical exfoliants for at least 48 hours. Always wear a broad-spectrum SPF (30+) daily. For underarm treatments, we recommend switching to a soothing powder instead of traditional deodorant for the first 24 hours to prevent localized skin irritation.
