Dermaplaning Facial

Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation that utilizes a 10-gauge scalpel to gently remove the outer layer of dull, dead skin cells and vellus hair (a.k.a. "peach fuzz") in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion. This treatment includes a facial cleanse, dermaplaning of the face, followed by a serum, and SPF/moisturizer for an amazing glow. One of the most noticeable benefits of removing the vellus hair, is that makeup will appear more even and smooth on the treated skin. Also, facial creams and serums are able to reach the epidermis, or bottom skin layer.

  • Expect the skin to feel incredibly smooth and soft. Guests may experience slight, temporary redness, and minor dryness or tightness may occur in the days following, making consistent hydration vital.

    • No Touching/Picking: Avoid touching, rubbing, or picking at the skin, especially if any slight flaking occurs.

    • Avoid Heat & Sweat: For at least 24 hours (ideally 48 hours), avoid strenuous exercise, hot showers, saunas, hot tubs, and swimming pools. Excessive heat and sweat can irritate newly exposed skin.

    • Gentle Cleansing: Use only a very gentle, non-foaming cleanser.

    • Hydration is Key: Apply a rich, soothing, and hydrating moisturizer frequently to keep the skin plump and prevent dryness.

    • Strict Sun Protection (PARAMOUNT): The skin is more vulnerable to sun damage. Apply a broad-spectrum mineral SPF 30+ generously and reapply every 2-3 hours, especially if outdoors. Avoid direct sun exposure as much as possible.

    • Makeup: Avoid applying makeup for at least 6 hours post-treatment. If necessary, use mineral-based makeup only.

    • Avoid Harsh Products: Continue to avoid harsh physical scrubs, chemical exfoliants (AHAs, BHAs), retinoids, and any products containing alcohol or strong acids for at least 7-10 days or until the skin feels completely recovered. Your esthetician will advise when it's safe to reintroduce these.

    • No Other Treatments: Avoid other facial treatments, waxing, or laser procedures on the treated area for at least 2 weeks to allow the skin to fully heal.

    • Stay Hydrated: Continue to drink plenty of water to support overall skin health.

  • Microneedling, also known as percutaneous collagen induction therapy, is administered with a handheld, electrically powered, drum or pen-shaped device, with tiny needles that make precise, microscopic punctures in the skin. These “micro-injuries” do not leave scars; they help stimulate the skin to repair itself naturally through a process called dermal remodeling. A topical anesthetic cream is applied beforehand to help numb the area being treated. This process starts with inflammation, which stimulates the skin to produce new collagen (the elastic fibers that make skin tight, smooth, and youthful). Collagen levels in the skin decline with age, and new collagen can only be produced when the skin is in repair mode. Applied to the neck and décolleté, this treatment helps keep the skin smooth and firm.

    Aftercare Advisories:

    • Don’t apply any lotions, creams, or makeup to the treated areas for the first 12 hours after treatment.

    • Keep skin out of the sun for at least 14 - 30 days after treatment.

    • Avoid tanning beds and self-tanning products at least 7 to 14 days after treatment.

    • Don’t use vitamin A products (such as Retin-A, Retinol, and Tazorac) 7 days after treatment.

    • Delay chemical peels until 30 days after the treatment.

    • Try not to shave the treated areas for 3 to 7 days after treatment.

    • Avoid sweating, exercising, and using a Jacuzzi, sauna, or steam bath for 3 to 7 days after treatment.

    • Don’t use any exfoliating medications or chemical products on the skin for at least 7 days after treatment.
